Top candidates' applications and background are reviewed and ranked by Fire Department staff.
Applicants who have made it this far in the process will complete the physical agility test and physical fitness assessment.
Members of the Fire Chief's panel interview recommended applicants. Upon completion of all interviews, the Fire Chief ranks all applicants.
A conditional offer of employment is made to viable applicants. The offer is conditional upon successful completion of final two components: medical and psychological evaluations. A polygraph test is administered to verify the information candidates give to the City of Marietta during the selection process.
Viable applicants will be scheduled for a physical examination and drug screen with a City of Marietta-contracted medical facility.
Both the written and interview sections of the psychological testing are administered by the City's psychologist. The psychologist will review results of written tests and then interview candidate. This process should take approximately four (4) hours.
